Full circle
We went to Oregon while the boys were off track and spent a night at the beach. It was lovely. The kids played in the sand and built dams and chased seagulls. And then we watched a beautiful sunset from our balcony. My dad and I took Brooks on a walk down the beach as the sun faded away. It reminded me of old times. Walking down that beach, toward Haystack Rock. The sand between my toes, scanning for seashells, the smell of bonfires and salty air. It was nice. I felt safe there, with my dad. We steered Brooks away from the shore and he ran and ran. Until we headed back to the hotel and those little running legs were done. So I carried that squishy little body in my arms. The way my dad once carried me. In that same place. With the same smells and sounds. The same little sandals on my tired feet. And thought about how this circle of life is such a sweet, crazy thing.
