He replayed it all again before he went to bed that night. 'I don't have any friends left,' he cried, 'they don't think I'm cool.' We assured him that we thought he was the coolest kid we knew, for reasons A through Z. Still, not overly impressed. We then began to list others that loved him, Grandma and Grandpa... he stopped us midsentence... and Chantel, he said. 'Chantel thinks I am supercool and she is going to give me pictures of her brain for my Great Brain project and she thinks I am handsome.' And suddenly all seemed right with the world. Friends? Who needs em. Mom and Dad? They're alright. Chantel, on the other hand? Well, if she thinks I'm cool then I must be.
Isn't that kind of amazing? The power of that one small conversation. We were over at Chantel's days ago when she promised him pictures of her brain, wished him luck at his first day of school, told him he was handsome. And he remembered it. Sometimes just a few kind words from somebody that doesn't have to say anything can make all the difference. So nice.

Wat to go Chantel! Even though she is going through major trials right now, she thought of a cute 7 year old. Yes, I think that he's cool too. Add me to the A-Z list for J.
That is so very sweet. Almost made me cry infact. What a great reminder that it really is the little things that make the biggest difference. A smile, a compliment, a kind thought....
Thanks for sharing!
Lovely in so many ways!
Can somebody out there give my six year old one of those pep talks??? She cries everyday that she doesnt want to go to school and says that people make fun of her because of what she brings for lunch! Kids are just mean! I keep trying to tell her that she is great no matter what people think about her lunch! (So silly I know, but not to my 6 year old:) Is it too late to sign up for home school?????
Chantel complimented my shirt at Owen's party and I came home and told Rob that coming from Chantel it meant a lot. She and Jeffrey really are THE coolest.
