Baby, I was born to be a scout

Jeff and Jeffrey went to Washington DC this summer to attend the National Boy Scout Jamboree. It was one of those things that Jeffrey will never forget. He still talks about it, months later. He reminds Jeff of this museum they went to and that monument they saw. And he is constantly singing his favorite song from the trip, begging us to download the video on our phones. The night they were at the jamboree they had a big show with live entertainment, fireworks, the whole 9 yards. Alex Boye performed a song from the movie Scout Camp. Jeffrey is obsessed. He thinks Alex Boye is perhaps the coolest person on the planet. Which makes this picture so entirely amazing. We went to the state fair last month. While we were walking through the prize winning cows, I had my head down in an effort to avoid strolling through the larger cow paddies, and spied a pair of cool red kicks. When I looked up, lo and behold, it was Alex Boye himself. We chased him down and a very star-struck little boy was struck dumb in the presence of the coolest of cool. He was so shy he could barely speak. Jeffrey! This boy of mine who does not have a bashful bone in his body. Jeffrey finally said hello and told him he had seen him at the jamboree this summer. He said that 'Born to be a scout' was his favorite song. Alex Boye asked him to sing for him. Jeffrey refused. And I mean re-fused. It was baffling to me. Who was this boy? Luckily Mr. Boye was not phased and proceeded to perform for us right there. Amidst the stench of poop and hay, he got down and dirty and sang Jeffrey's favorite song. The boy was in awe. After his serenade, Alex posed for a pic with these two goofy kids and we went on our way. Jeffrey proclaimed it one of the best days of his life.

This is so funny. Alex Boye came and was our "live" entertainment at the Gap one night. He had a back up boy band and was standing on our Cashwrap singing. I'll be sure to let Jeffrey know if he makes an appearance again:)
