Las Vegas

So, Jeff was gone on a business trip to Milwaukee last week and my mom and dad and I came up with the brilliant idea of taking a quick trip to Las Vegas while he was gone. We left on Weds. after swimming lessons and the trip there was pretty smooth. But, the car was air conditioned, the boys had their DVD player and plenty of junk food to keep them busy, and Paige took a nice long nap. Things seemed to be going well. Then we got to Vegas. As soon as we got out of the car we started to melt and we didn't stop until we got in the car to leave on Friday morning. Literally. My mom got heat stroke the first day we were there and spent that night throwing up. My dad came out with me and the kids the next morning and we were overly ambitious as it turned out. We parked on one end of the strip and made our way to the other end. It was 110 degrees when we started out that morning and by the time we got to Margaritaville at the other end of the strip my dad was done. He had to get a taxi to take him back to the hotel and within a couple hours he was throwing up as well. So...the kids and I spent a good part of the day at Caesars Palace where I got in some good retail therapy, the kids watched the show with the live statues and played at FAO Shwarz, we spent 25.oo on gelatto (3 kid sized gelattos at 7.99 each, I almost died when she told me the price AFTER she had scooped them all up), Owen threw his entire cup into the garbage, and I clenched my teeth and tried to enjoy the air conditioning. After running out of things to do at Caesar's, we braved the strip and and headed down to MGM where we ate lunch at Rainforest. The kids loved it there and were really good. We finally made it back to our car and went back to our hotel to watch the circus acts. We stayed at Circus Circus and the acts were really fun, the acrobats were amazing and Jeffrey has now added another job to his list of things he wants to be when he is a Dad (his version of being a grown up). So, not the ideal trip, especially for my poor parents, but we did have a good time. I think next time we'll hit Vegas in December.
