A great day.

Our Owen has been hard for... how long, I don't know. Too long. Not bad hard, just hard. He can be the sweetest, cutest, most loving child I know. But he is also emotional and sensitive and has a healthy dose of anxiety on top of it all. The combination can be difficult to deal with for him and for me. Most days are a version of this. Owen loses his temper, yells at me, gets embarrassed, yells at me, gets frustrated, yells at me. And then I yell at him and the vicious cycle begins. Yuck. I have read parenting books, asked for advice, applied said advice, prayed, read some more, felt guilty, prayed some more. Nothing has really seemed to work. I thought 4 would be the magic number. He hit it in September and here we are 6 months in and things are still hard. Until today.
Todays was a really good day. Pre-school was good, he was happy. We had to run a million errands afterward and he was the best he has ever been. Happy, cooperative, so nice to Paige. I told him how much I appreciated him, how good he was being. He beamed. All day, happy Owen, happy momma. It was a dream. I loved how he was acting, he loved the praise, such a happy cycle. He kissed me tonight before going to bed and told me I was the best momma in the world. I hugged him tight, told him I loved him so. And I do. So maybe 4 1/2 is the magic number. I'm going with that thought. But even if it's not, today was a great day. Owen was happy, I was happy, I get to go to bed guilt-free, feeling the love. And that is enough for me.
